Next week I will be a different person

This weekend is going to be a life changing time for me. I will be undergoing a dramatic change. I’ve debated long and hard whether I should share this deeply personal piece of news on my blog, and I’ve decided it’s only the right thing to do.

Let me explain. For the past two years I’ve been feeling frustrated - like I’ve not been able to be the real me. I’ve been able to get on with my life but I haven’t been able to escape the feeling that the real me is someone else.

I made the decision to do something about it earlier this year and have since been saving hard for the ‘change’. Some of my friends have questioned my sanity and asked if I know what I’m doing.

It’s not been an easy decision to come to, but I do know what I’m doing. I couldn’t be more happy that I’m absolutely doing the right thing.

This weekend I will be changing… from a PC user to a Mac.

Mac Pro

Congrats. Please post updates about your experiences and transition to the Dark Side.

You won’t look back, Macs are so much more user friendly - welcome to the Mac club.

Welcome to MacWorld.
I made the switch only a year ago. I still have a PC, but only ever use it to test sites on IE. As soon as I install Windows on my Mac (cringe), I’m putting my PC and Windows XP installation discs onto the bonfire–seriously. I’ll try to post some pic’s.

I never liked windows, but when I got a Mac (I have two now), I realised just how utterly crap and useless Windows really is. In one year my macs have frozen a grand total of 3 times; my PC would crash that many times in a week (sometimes in one day).

You will love your Mac, and as Tara says, you won’t look back; well, in fact you may look back–just to laugh at that silly old PC. I must also add that I don’t see myself as a Mac fanboy, but I have a MacBook and a new 24″ iMac; the former is perfect for mobile computing; the later…well…fast, wonderful screen quality, looks absolutely beautiful, makes not a sound…

OK, that’s probably enough. Oh, and you might want to laminate your new Mac ;)

I’m envious, I’m still on PC but I was very close to jump into the darkside (if only a Mac Pro wasn’t so expensive …). I think that I’m going to do it in my next computer upgrade, and probably more and more people will try to escape from the Vista nightmare…

Anna - I will do. I’ve just heard the Mac was delivered today but I won’t be home until tomorrow evening… I don’t know if I can wait…

Tara - Thank you - I’m looking forward to being part of the club :) I’ve been using Macs for a few years so I’m already familiar with them but totally looking forward to having my own.

Johno - Ha ha I can’t wait to see your XP burning ceremony. The only programme I’ll miss is Picassa (I can’t stand iPhoto) so I’ll probably have an XP partition purely for Picassa purposes.

Giovanni - Thanks for the comment. The Mac I’ve opted for is a Mac Pro - they are pretty pricey. I think they are so upgradeable though that I hope to get double the lifetime out of a Mac than a PC.

Totally off-subject: Have you seen this little gem yet? =)

Hey, that probably would be the wisest decision in your life, Aaron :-)
I too switched to Mac only a year ago, like John, and can’t see myself going back to PC.
Johno, have you tried installing Parallels on your Mac, you can install Windows on Parallels VM.

Sera - I DID see that the other week actually, and you know, it made me think of you! ;)

Vivien - The wisest decision of my LIFE? Ha ha, when I was convincing myself that this was a good thing to spend two grand on, even I, who doesn’t need much persuading to buy the things I want, didn’t quite weigh it as that significant. But now that you do I’m even more satisfied with the Mac. :D

haha, you know what Mac owners say about owning their laptops?
- iBroke but iHappy :-)

So did you get your Mac yet?

I think its a change for the better. How i wish i could have one Mac too.

Have your say
