I never understood the obsession with cramming content above the fold either. Paul Boag also recently wrote about how &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.boagworld.com/archives/2007/07/emerging_design_trends.html&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;this trend seems to be diminishing&lt;/a&gt; with the emergence of web 2.0 styles.
