Tara – I’m not sure print-graphic designers are a dying breed, I just think there’s more of them. At college the graphic design class was about 4 times the size of the multimedia class, and the standard was pretty good throughout the class. I think they’ll find it harder than I’ve found it to get work because there’s so much more competition for places.

Charity – Thanks I really looking forward to it. Of course a start-up is a bit risky too but at my point in life I figure it’s worth taking a risk or two.

I’m sure you’re right about web people being more in demand. To be honest I haven’t looked for a full time job for 5 years or so so I don’t know what jobs are out there (apart from an odd glance at Creative review and design week back pages). I am sure as a print designer I am a dying breed, hence trying to get a handle on web at the moment.

Lauren – I realise I’m very lucky indeed. I think the fact I’ve done this backwards and worked for 11 years before graduating makes me a unique prospect compared to other graduates. It’s certainly worked to my advantage. Very different to 3-4 years ago when I couldn’t find work for love nor money.

Paul – It’s a blogging policy of mine not to talk publicly about my employers, although that may change. I will of course talk about my experiences though.

It’s a great feeling handing in your notice

Tara – Another reason I think I’ve had so much joy is having web design skills. I’m new to all this so I may be wrong, but I get the distinct impression that webby people are a bit more in demand than print-graphic designers?

David – Cheers. There’ll be a bottle or two being cracked down this way too this weekend.

How exciting! Congrats!! Boy that must feel good to be offered 3 jobs right out of school. Most people end up working in a production “artist” sweat shop for a while.
