Tonight’s the big night. My end of year show begins this evening with a private viewing to industry. The correct business cards have turned up, my best bib and tucker is waiting for me, and I’m ready to whore myself.
I have quite a bit of printed material, but the main part of my display is my interactive portfolio. My new personal website, www.aaronrussell.co.uk is now up and running with a version of my portfolio. Feel free to check it out and comment.

Currently the site is just an exact port of my exhibition display, but over the next few weeks I’ll put it onto a WordPress install and tweak the copy so it better positions me in the freelance market. I won’t turn it into a blog though, miLienzo.com is my blogging home.
The other day I promised Tara I’d take a few photos of the show tonight. Unfortunately I don’t have my camera with me, and besides I think I’ll be too busy. But I promise to take a few photos over the weekend when I won’t be trying so hard to sell myself.
Wish me luck. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
Thanks for the previous posts’ comments: David, Randa, Mac, Charity and Tara.

Well done mate! The site looks great, as I’m sure does all the printed stuff!
Just don’t do what I did with my final collage presentation night, and get toothpaste down your favourite tie!
Seriously… Have a good one!
Oh, good luck!! You website is very spiffy. I like it!
That iPod Flex… it was your idea? Either way, you did a GREAT job building it in 3D. I hated 3D. Never could get the hang of making the geometry
Will you show us your business cards? Block out the info if you don’t want us to stalk you, but I would enjoy seeing the final product of your blood, sweat and tears
Again, Aaron, I hope the exhibition goes great!
Liking the new site and it’s muted, yet colourful feel. Glad to see you did away with the logo underscore too.
Just got home and have a few wines in me so I’ll keep this short…
Paul - Thanks mate. You’ll be pleased to know there was no toothpaste on the tie. In fact, I’ve yet to meet a designer who wears a tie so I opted not to. Same cant be said for my class mates. I thought I’d turned up to a wake when I got there.
Lauren - Yes, the iPod flex was my idea. Have you seen it elsewhere? Phillips have a prototype called the Readius which uses roll-up screen technology like this, which is where I got the idea from. I think this really is the way that mobile devices will go.
Business card post is coming soon
David - Thanks for the kind words. And well done for noticing the underscore-less logo - it looks a lot better now
I’ll post more detailed reflections on the event tomorrow, once I’ve had time to dwell on it… and the bottle of wine has worn off.
No, I haven’t seen the Flex anywhere else but it’s an incredible idea! I guess I just didn’t give you enough credit *blush*
Hi Aaron, sorry I have only just got round to reading. Loking forward to seeing some pics when you get time. The site looks good, glad to see you decided on a logo.
LOVE the Napoleon Dynamite thing. I’ve never seen the movie but I did see the iPod commercials and always thought they were cool. The flourishes you added look great. Are you glad it’s all over now?
Nice work you got there :), pretty surreal idea on the iPod flex though, hehe. Doubt we’ll ever be seeing anything as modern and flashy as what apple comes with with that sort of a support to keep the screen steady. Although of course it could be seen as somewhat retro ;).
Charity - You bet I’m glad it’s over! This bloody exhibition has dominated my life for far too long. I’ve enjoyed it though, but I’m going to enjoy having a summer with no college to consider even more.
Psycho - Thanks for the comment. I’m pretty sure flexible screen technology is the way forward. The technology is in its infancy but give it a few years and we might start seeing real devices like this.
Have your say
