The wooden USB memory stick
Posted 3 May 2007, by Aaron
The USB memory stick is quite an unsung hero in my eyes. Single-handedly responsible for doing away with the floppy-disk drive, it has risen to become a ubiquitous part of modern day life for many people.
What’s more, they’ve become a bit of a fashion accessory. You can buy them in all shapes and sizes, in every colour conceivable, with flashing LEDs, finger-print security technology, built in MP3 players and much more.
Now a Dutch firm called Studio Oooms has gone back to basics and released the wooden USB memory stick.

Using “nature’s imperfection as inspiration”, apparently these sticks are “picked from the woods and are manually selected on their natural beauty”.

At €80 for a 2 gig stick, these are a pretty pricey option. But if you’re looking for that rustic feel in your digital world, then look no further.
