Has Technorati ditched the most favourited list?
Posted 1 May 2007, by Aaron
There’s something stirring over at Technorati HQ. Following the much debated reciprocal favouriting discussion, it seems the guys at Technorati have removed the list entirely!

Actually, I’ve been keeping a keen eye on the list this morning and sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not. It may just be a glitch.
However, over at engtech there is an excellent list of suggestions for improving the Technorati favourites system and some ideas for new features for the site. Included is the idea of dropping the list entirely.
Who knows? One thing that’s certain is that the spotlight is very much on Technorati these days. The recent publicity has led some people to even question the purpose of Technorati. Does it provide enough traffic? Is it an accurate and fair blog-ranking system?
I agree with engtech regarding removing the list completely. In addition, users need another, more valuable incentive for using favourites.
“This is the crux of the issue: if the favorites feature was widely used then it wouldn’t be possible for such a small number of people to game the results.” engtech
More social networking capabilities need to be implemented into Technorati, as MyBlogLog is taking the lead in this area. Maybe the screenshot above isn’t a glitch. Maybe the Technorati techies are doing something about a growing problem? Or maybe… just maybe… they’re enjoying watching the rumor-mill go round and round.
How would you like to see Technorati improved?
